Art Society's building in Federation Park

About to head down to ASTT (Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago) for a painting session. Just popped in to let you know that my work is being featured on the blog Woman of Colour. Check it out!

Pounding Surf
8x10, oil on canvas, painting knife.

Some of the most poignant examples of God's power and majesty can be found on the East Coast of Trinidad, where the currents are fed by the Atlantic Ocean and therefore the waves are high and they pound the rocks mercilessly; with a roar like a thunderclap. This is so especially during the rainy season.

It's a pity that more people don't appreciate the fact that God made the seas and it's there for all to enjoy. Soon a lot of places that have memorable views will be barricaded behind concrete walls; their beauty selfishly hidden.

Of Painting Knives and Journeying

En Route de Camps.
12x16, oil on panel, palette knife. 2011

Been practising with painting knives quite a lot lately. It has always been one of the painting techniques that excites me, so I've decided to spend more time with it; getting to know the ins and outs of using them and also just having fun even when I don't feel like I've accomplished what I set out to do. The fun is in the learning

Thank God it's Friday!

School is out and I've no intentions of wasting time. This is my first piece for July. Couldn't wait to share it with you. Still working on it. Think I want to scrape down that sky,. I'm using painting knives on this and will use them on most of the work I do this month.

I'm Back!!!

So nice to be back at it. I've been MIA for a month now. Hoping and praying that the service provider would fix the internet service. Ever notice when the problem's theirs they tend to drag their feet? Anyway, I'm back!!
Been busy with tying up and closing off the term so not much painting... yet. I did do something though.

Daddy Dyett
12x16, oil on canvas
I don't  consider myself a portrait artist. Every now and then I cross that divide and try to capture a face that inspires me. This one is extra special. It's my father-in-law. I painted this for him for father's day. He didn't know the photos were going to be used for this purpose. All he knew is that he was being posed.
